Welcome to my website!
My name is Julia Guther. I'm a Berlin based illustrator and graphic designer. For further information or feedback on my work please feel free to
contact me.
Snow
Daisy's gone, but my new snow T-shirt will last! You better keep checking out the »A Number Of Small Thing«
webshop. They're constantly coming up with new offers, great music an of course: designs i made :)
A little big ... sun
Shining like the sun is the new little big album of »Bobby and Blumm«. I took part in the project, visually. The coop was ping pong, here is the result. The album will be put out on Morr Music's »Sound Of A Handshake« and you will be able to buy it
here.
Go find the go find
I'm very happy to announce the release of a new »The Go Find« album. It will be out in January and you shouldn't miss it. The collaboration was so productive that we decided to put out some more visual things connected to the music. Watch out for it!
We love Polaroid
I was recently working in collaboration with Berlin based agency DDB. I created tons of visuals for a client that i will post about later (secret). I very much enjoyed being Thomas Demand and many other nerds at once, as well as working with the wonderful team at DDB.
Publik
Yoshi Kawasaki from Japan asked me to design some motives for his lovely label »Publik«. Some of them were printed on T-shirts and you can order them
here. Please visit the website, where you also find designs by Geoff McFetridge, Parra and Geneviève Gauckler.
Up and Coming
And yet another warner compilation...
T-shirt Designs for Project (RED)
In May i got asked by GAP to design some motives for their Project (RED) t-shirt line. I was very honored but now i got informed that they won't be manufactured any time soon. Too bad, don't you think?
A Number Of Small Things
Sometimes you just have to take it literally. The original of this motive for
»A Number Of Small Things« was in fact smaller than the picture and my fingers were actually too big to handle it. Anyway, please have a look at all the new great things they offer!
Morr Music in Baby Blue
It's a boy! No, it's Morr Music. I designed some CD sleeves, compliment cards and business cards to make the people at Morr Music's everyday life easier. I wouldn't speak about corporate design here... it's just another way to have fun fun fun.
New Shirts
Some new T-shirts and Tote-Bags for Telekinesis and Masha Qrella. Please apologize the ugly wallpaper (Raufasertapete) in the background, thank you! Please order them
here.
Telekinesis!
For those who haven't found out: Morr Music has a new signing. It's from Seattle, it sounds like Seattle and it's meant to sound like Seattle. Frontman Michael Learner has already entered my heart and you should definitely visit their
Myspace site. The original Artwork for this album (made for the U.S. a while ago) is by Maggie Fost.
Sing Fang Bous, Borko & It's A Musical
This year's Morr Music labeltour is going to be very islandic again. Sing Fang Bous, Borko and the Swedish/German band It's A Musical are coming to your town or at least to one nearby. No worries, not by balloon.
Check out the dates.
Life is uncertain, have some music first!
Happy easter! And take your time to think about the really important things in life. Not only sweets... but your friends, family and good music for example. You can buy some
here.
Masha playing Weill and Loewe
I know i haven't been updating my website for too long, but I need a new system to make things easier. In the meantime i'm posting at least some of what kept me so busy.
Right now I'm working on the artwork for Masha Qrella's Weill version recordings which will be released on Morr Music in june. You can look forward to it, fabulous album!!
The Wooden Birds
I was very honored to be asked by Andrew Kenny from »The American Analog Set« to do the artwork for his new solo project
»The Wooden Birds« and i still am. The Album will be released in Europe by Morr Music April 17, and USA by Barsuk May 12.
Au Revoir Simone
Yes, I was also asked by my dear friends
»Au Revoir Simone« to help them designing the artwork of their new album »Still Night, Still Light«, which will be released in may. The front picture is by the English landscape painter and writer Samuel Palmer. There's more pictures of my actual work to be posted... coming soon.
Illustration for Ecocolo
I made this picture for a japanese magazine called »Ecocolo«, which is obvously about the environment. It was the opener for their culture section where they show the work of illustrators each issue.
Morr Music's Acoustic Memory
An artwork for a japanese compilation of Morr Music's folk side that was never released. There were some misunderstandings between Morr Music and the people who planned it. So this is the Morr's folk side's graveyard. Sweet Dreams.
Being Pisces
The German magazine »Maxi« has s nice concept for their horoscope illustrations. Instead of showing 12 pictures every month they have only one, made by a new artist each issue, who's asked to draw his own sign. Yes, I am pisces.
The Ball of Joy
T-shirt i designed for »It's a musical«.You can buy it
here.
Seabear and Borko on tour in Europe
Morr Music's fellow icelanders will reach continental european shore again. And i was asked to make a poster. The motive will also be available on t-shirts and silkscreen printed posters very soon. For tourdates please check out
Morr Music and
Mikrokultur.
Music Shoppers Live Longer Bag
Now you can carry around your records in a very true message for everybody who's too obsessed by the "open source" idea. Buy the bag at
A Number Of Small Things. Thank you
Wiebke for the nice picture.
Yes! IAM Artwork finished!
For my friends Ella and Robot from It's A Musical i also did the whole Digipack, LP and Poster Design. I'm still very happy to be able to work for Morr Music which is normally and only done by
The Human Empire. Thanks again and still for the cooperation!

Morr Music Sticker
Totally in the tradition of the "Music shoppers live longer" campaign is Morr Music's new approach to people who think that music is for everybody, and for free of course... We want to remind listeners about the healthy aspect of BUYING music. Real, vinyl, feeling good in your hands and also in your eyes music.

The Music Makes Me Sick
It's A Musical is a new band from Sweden and Berlin. Their music is very fresh and catchy. The Album will be released in autumn but this is the Single which will come out upfront. I'm sure it's gonna be the summer hit 2008. Late but hit.

Invitation
I made this invitation for a friend's barbecue birthday party at Lake Starnberg in Bavaria, which was meant to take place next Weekend. Unfortunatley the party is canceled, it will rain. What a shame.

Berlin, Berlin
Me and my »band« got asked by a Japanese Travel Magazine to give an interview about our city. Afterwards they asked me to draw some tiny little Illustrations for the layout. They wanted the Berlin TV-tower and something »culture-like«. I couldn't think of anything else than Clärchens Ballhaus and Music. How lowbrow.
Sleep at your own speed...
... is the title of this beautiful debut album by Manchester based
Butcher the Bar. I really need to take Photographs of the Album itself. Can you send me a reminder email?¿?

B like Brilliant Music from Berlin
In the last three releases of Morr Music there were many "B"s involved. Borko, Bobby and Blumm and Butcher The Bar. When they asked me to do a shop poster I couldn't help making it the subject.
Music Shoppers Live Longer
If everyone was still buying music.... the world would be a better place. Here's a motive i did for Morr Music Stickers, Posters and Bags...
Everybody loves Bobby and Blumm!
I'm proudly presenting you my first Morr Music Artwork for the new and wonderful german/swedish project
»Bobby and Blumm«. It was an extraordinary cooperation and I want to thank the
Human Empire for their trust in my work :)
Traveling Germany by Car
Together with Mutabor I recently worked on another issue of »Volkswagen Magazin«. For a Story about the Harz Mountains I made little pictograms. Did you know Quedlinburg?
Paper Landscapes
Remember the unaffordable colored paper by »Pantone«? I found some remainders in an old shop in Schöneberg and started working with
these "leftover color combinations".
